Deep Eddy

The Deep Eddy residence is a 2200 sf home designed for an art collector. The procession and the materials palette were conceived as a muted backdrop for the owner’s art and a restrained selection of rich materials.

The entry sequence begins with the “red carpet” of encaustic tiles, passes through a woven steel gate, into the Moroccan tile jewel box, complete with a square oculus in the concrete ceiling. Custom steel guardrails and columns, teak shower decks, and a rich green marble backsplash are just some of the ways the house attempts to echo the display of art against a white background.
